Thanks to Mr and Mrs Joe Hamilton, BMHS has a beautiful new Freightliner Sprinter 2500 van!! The van will transport dogs/ cats into rescue groups and partnering shelters on a weekly basis. BMHS transfers approximately 500 animals per year into partnering shelters, where they are spayed/neutered and put up for adoption in high traffic demographics. Our new van will enable us to save more lives in 2010. Our heartfelt thanks go to Mr and Mrs Hamilton for this wonderful donation!!

The Deuce Foundation

You can designate your gift! The Deuce Foundation was established in 2008 as a special fund to assist animals that have been hit by cars, who have severe medical needs such as amputation of limbs, heartworm treatment, or any condition that might under normal circumstances not be covered by the shelter budget. The Deuce Foundation gives these animals a second life.

The Deuce Foundation was established as named after a hound, "Deuce", who was hit by two separate cars and left abandoned on the side of Highway 441. With the help of Stephen Arbitter, DMV, and Rabun Animal Hospital, Deuce's severely fractured pelvis and broken legs were repaired. After several weeks of therapy, Deuce was adopted and is living a healthy, happy life today.

Birthday parties, gifts to commemorate a pet or friend are a perfect match for donating to the Deuce Foundation. Be sure to clearly designate your donation to The Deuce Foundation and Save a Life!

Donate to The Deuce Foundation

The Deuce Foundation is a special foundation set up by Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter
specifically for animals with special medical needs, such as leg amputation after being hit by a car.
The Foundation was named for a dog that was hit not once, but twice by two different cars.
We named him Deuce, and with the skill and care of Dr. Stephen Arbitter, of Rabun Animal Hospital,
Deuce’s pelvis and leg were rebuilt. After lots of rehab, Deuce was adopted and now lives in a two acre
fenced in yard with another dog, who is gentle and older.

All funds for The Deuce Foundation are used specifically to save animals that would under most circumstances
be euthanized due to the expenses of their medical needs. You can designate your donation to go specifically to this
Foundation.

Call 706 982-4909 for more information on donating to this fund.
