2010 Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter Capital Campaign is Underway!

Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter is growing and our needs grow with us! We are currently in a capital campaign to raise funds for the completion of one of our unfinished wings, which is 800 square feet.

Wing #2 was built as an unfinished space for future growth and we now need to build out that planned future space for accommodation for the animals in our care. Currently, when Animal Control brings in a bite case, that animal must be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days. In one week this summer, five bite cases were brought into the shelter for bite case quarantine, which netted in the loss of 50 % of our quarantine kennels for strays and owner surrender of large dogs. The solution is to finish Wing #2.

Wing #2 will house bite case quarantine, and will also be a Treatment Wing for treatable diseases such as Kennel Cough. We need separate housing for Treatment animals, to protect the uninfected animals in our care.

The first step in finishing Wing #2 is to build a separate storage building of approximately 800 square feet to house the existing inventory of crates, traps, educational materials, shredded paper, fundraising materials, décor, lawn equipment, etc. This building will be prefabricated, and will not require HVAC or plumbing.

The second step is to core the floors, add HVAC, septic, kennels, and finish out the space of Wing #2 to become a working Treatment and Bite Quarantine Wing.
